Any operator seeking an Air Operator’s Certificate must satisfy their Regulatory Authority / UK CAA of their competence. Essential to this process is an Operations Manual that describes the Operator’s management, operational and procedural practices.

Newbould and Ritchie Ltd (N&R) are specialists in preparing such documentation for Operators. By using the experience and expertise of N&R, Operators can ensure that they save time and money.

The amount of documentation required can be daunting, even for the small Operator. The Authority will want to see not only the Operations Manual itself but the Quality Manual, Continuing Airworthiness Maintenance Exposition, Checklists, Cabin Crew Manual, Maintenance Programme, Training Manual, Minimum Equipment Lists, Operations and Quality Assurance Forms etc. etc.

Starting from scratch, this process can take well over 6 months before submission to the Authority –and then discussions will prolong the process even further. N&R remove this problem. They know the issues that can cause delay; they know what is and is not acceptable to the Authority; they know from experience how to expedite approvals; they know how to help Operators establish successful operations.

A well managed Company with good Operations Manuals will not invite constant attention from the Authority. Unsafe Operators with messy documentation are likely to be a hazard to their passengers, crew and other Operators. But it is not simply AOC holders who should consider using N&R. Every Operator has a clear duty of care to its stakeholders; well-organised and clear Operations Manuals explaining operational policies and procedures are a critical element is maintaining compliance with the law.
