The quality of the Operations Manual (and its associated volumes) reflects the quality of the Operator. Those that have poorly designed, poorly maintained Operations Manuals will inevitably attract the attention of the supervisory Authority and should be a warning to all stakeholders.
N&R Operations Manuals provide clear information on the management responsibilities of each postholder, the means by which operational and quality control is exercised, flight and duty time policies, health precautions, navigational limitations, crew training, maintenance control, reporting and a host of other issues.
Each Company has specific needs; these need to be stated clearly in the Operations Manual. Therefore each one is tailored to each Company’s requirements, changing (through the amendment process) as the Company changes and as the legal requirements alter.
A complete Operation Manual for a large Operator can run to over 500,000 words. N&R have probably produced more of them than any other organisation.
